L&D Spotlight: How Visa & Verizon built learning ecosystems with LMSs

By Andrew Downes | Nov 7, 2018

In our last blog post, we looked at how The Behr Paint Company replaced the LMS when implementing their learning ecosystem. But that’s actually a less common route, as many organizations keep their LMSs playing key roles within their ecosystems. For example, organizations may keep the LMS to manage event bookings, assign compliance training, or keep centrally managed content repositories. In this post, we’ll look at how Visa and Verizon have kept their LMSs as part of their ecosystems.

Learning Ecosystems: How The Behr Paint Company replaced the LMS

By Andrew Downes | Oct 29, 2018

As you start to consider your learning ecosystem, you’ll need to reflect on the role of the LMS. For most organizations, the LMS continues to play an important role in conjunction with other ecosystem elements (our next blog post will look at organizations who have done just that). But, there are times when you may want to replace part or all of your LMS when implementing xAPI. In this post, we’ll look at how The Behr Paint Company replaced its LMS in this way.

Learning Ecosystems: How to add data sources & iterate [Guide]

By Andrew Downes | Sep 5, 2018

Last week, Tim Dickinson explained how to create a strategy for your modern learning ecosystem. In this post, we’ll dig more into the weeds of getting started and look at how to choose a good starter data source, connect it, and build from there.

How to Develop a Learning Ecosystem Strategy [Guide]

By Tim Dickinson | Aug 29, 2018

Designing and building new learning ecosystems can seem intimidating at first blush. Where do I start? Which key components should I consider? What’s my strategy? Answering everything on your own makes a challenging, but gratifying, task much harder. That’s why it’s important to make this process a team effort, involving the most important stakeholders to help you along the way. In that vain, we’ve invited Danny Abdo, vice president of solutions engineering at our partner, Degreed, to help provide some insight into how to strategically plan for and design a new learning ecosystem.

The Ripple Effect: Learning & Data Ecosystems

By Tim Dickinson | Aug 7, 2018

So far, we’ve established an overview of modern learning ecosystems and how you can identify them across your different learning programs. Now, it’s time to explore how changes to different elements of an ecosystem can impact not only learning experiences, but also other elements in the ecosystem.

Discover Your Organization’s Learning Ecosystems

By Mike Rustici | Jul 17, 2018

In the introduction to this series, we explained how your organization’s learning ecosystems are comprised of different L&D tools and technologies. And, because learning is a continuous process that happens in many ways and places, learning ecosystems are everywhere. In this post, we’ll explore how you can start discovering these ecosystems within your own organization.

An Introduction to Modern Learning Ecosystems

By Mike Rustici | Jul 10, 2018

Learning is an intrinsically human activity that happens in many places and in many ways. It doesn’t matter how great or feature-rich any one learning system is, learning will never happen in just one place. The modern learning ecosystem not only recognizes this reality, but also embraces it to support the learner wherever and however he or she learns best. In this blog series, we’ll explore learning ecosystems and how they relate to data ecosystems, while also sharing real-world case studies and useful takeaways so you can map out, create, and grow your own ecosystems.
